Project Life | Week 22 (With Free Cut File)

I actually had these pictures ready to share last week, but I hadn't uploaded the cut file yet, so I decided to wait to post it.  It works out since I'm still in a creative slump over week 23.

Full Spread.

Left Side.  We ran in the Cotton Row 10k on Monday of this week.  I didn't bring my camera because how many pictures of us before or after a race do we really need?  I did snag a picture online of the flag flying over the start/finish line, though.  I made the star filler card using the penultimate app and then recoloring it in PSE.

Right Side.  I am in love with those close-ups of Lincoln and Mason.  I'm experimenting with my new DSLR, and while I'm still using Creative Auto, I'm loving the results.  The "today is a gift" card is recolored from the digital Jade kit.  I finally broke down and purchased a few filler card sets, and I'm in love.

And do you see that little "RECIPE" tab?  Here's a closer look at what I did there.  I made a 3x4 tabbed card in PSE, opened it in silhouette and added the text.  Then I printed out the recipe slightly smaller than 4x6, folded it, and used glue-dots to attach to the tabbed card.  It was actually really easy, and I'm pretty pleased with the results.  I need to buy some more plain cardstock, though.  Ha!

And I thought some of you might also like to include some recipes in your albums, so I've included a link to download the silhouette file (for personal use only, please):

Project Life | Week 21

This was a really low-picture week, so I decided to take my 2 favorite pictures and crop them big.  I really like how it turned out!

 Full Spread.

Left Side.  There's really not much more to say about my spread this week.  I cropped my chosen picture to 4x12, saved it, and then cropped the left side to 4x6, re-opened the original, and cropped the right side to 4x6.  Easy.  Captions on the bottom photos are Bebas, of course.

Right Side.  This was a little trickier crop for the big photo.  I cropped my picture to 6x12, saved it, and then cropped a 4x6 for the left and right side, as before.  For the middle 4x6, I just kind of eye-balled it, and then cropped it to fit the smaller pockets after printing the 4x6 pictures.

Project Life | Week 20

Happy (Belated) Memorial Day!  I hope everyone had a lovely weekend.  You may remember I mentioned a few weeks ago that I cut my hours at work and stopped working Fridays, so I thoroughly enjoyed my long 4-day weekend!  The big event of the weekend was running in a 10k yesterday.  And one of the coolest things about the opening ceremonies for it was that a WWII vet led us in the Pledge of Allegiance.  I'm so grateful for those who have served our country and those who continue to serve today.

Now, on to Project Life!

Full Spread.

Left Side.  This week is kind of tech week.  On this side, I show off the amazing new phone case that Tyler got me for Mother's Day.  I approved the idea of a collage case, and the rest of it was all his own work.  I bet you all wish your husbands were as creatively capable as mine.  :)  And I also finally broke out my Silhouette Portrait this week!  I won a giveaway back in March (!!), and it took a few weeks to get here and then another week or two for me to find time to sit down and figure out the software.  And it's awesome.  The font I used for "hello" is Xiomara.  And I finished off this side with some fun Mason pics and words.  He's fully in the babbling stage, and it's fun as we can identify more and more words that he uses consistently.

Right Side.  More tech week.  I broke out my new Canon Rebel and finally figured out the eye-fi card I ordered on woot a few weeks ago.  It's awesome.  Now when I take pictures with the big camera, it automatically uploads them from the card to my computer.  Sweet!  And yeah, I superglued my fingers together.  Soaking it in acetone works as well as advertised.

Project Life | Weeks 18 & 19

I'm still officially loving Project Life.  That's all I have for an introduction.

Week 18 Full Spread.

Week 18 Left Side.  Minimal journaling.  I got all these pictures on Friday of this week.  It was so fun to watch the boys play together.

Week 18 Right Side.  Another picture from Friday and then a little journaling about the The Addams Family.  The Star Wars card was heavily inspired by this one (which she offered as a facebook fan freebie).  I made my own so it worked better in the horizontal space.  Also, I changed the green to be the green I've been using.

Week 19 Full Spread.

Week 19 Left Side.  Minimal journaling again.  I like how the black and white picture of Lincoln helping with the laundry turned out.  I used picframe to put the two pictures side-by-side, and then I used PSE to turn it B&W and add the "Big Helper" caption.  That close-up of Lincoln is a selfie he took on my phone.  I thought it was clear it's a selfie, but maybe I should add some kind of caption??

Week 19 Right Side.  I scanned the picture of Lincoln's soccer team and printed it 4x6 after adding the names of all the players and the journaling, but now I'm wondering if I should include the original as an insert instead.  Other than that, the journaling font is Corbel, and the captions are Bebas.

Random Facts Post #1

I've been keeping a running list of random facts about myself for the past year or so.  They're the kind of things that rarely come up in daily conversation, but they're all part of what makes me unique.  I've seen similar lists, so at first I planned to post them all at once and then add them to my "About Me" page.  Then I considered using them for an "All About Me" minibook.  But I still haven't finished my Cruise minibook, and meanwhile the list just keeps on growing.  So I've decided to break my list up into a few posts and share just five (or so) of these random facts at a time.

1.  I forget the keys in the front door every few months.  Usually Tyler gets them when he gets home, but I've forgotten them there overnight a few times.

2.  I like to leave my earrings in when I go to the gym.  The first few times were an accident, but then I decided I liked it.  It helps me feel more put-together when I'm sweating like a pig, I guess.

3.  I have a tried and true problem-solving method which works a good 80% of the time: Ignore the problem and hope it goes away.  And don't knock it until you've tried it; it's surprisingly effective.

4.  My favorite color changes every few years.  It's been pink now for awhile, so it could be changing soon.

5.  I hate texting shorthand (b4 instead of before, u instead of you, etc).  But I'm all about acronyms, like btw for by the way and idk for I don't know.  Tyler and I even use ones specific to us, like ikr for I know right and ooc for out of control.

What about you?  Do you have any quirks that you'd like to share with the interwebs?  If you do a random facts post, I'd love for you to share a link!
